Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial
United Methodist Church
To REACH out to our local and world community with the Good News of Jesus Christ through acts of love and radical hospitality.
To CONNECT people to God with the transformative power of dynamic worship, the Sacraments, prayer, and frequent fellowship with believers, to bring healing and wholeness into their lives.
To EQUIP Christ’s followers with inspired teaching, the regular study of scripture, meaningful conversation, spiritual awareness, and to develop each individual’s God-given talents to actively live as His ambassadors.
To this end, we humbly accept our community as the primary focus of our mission and pledge those resources of the history, building, finances, leadership and talents.
which have been so generously granted to us by the grace of God.
Floral Ave. Fire Victims Relief Effort
Coordinated Collection and Organization
Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial UMC has agreed to be a central collection point for monetary donations for the families who were victims of the tragic fire on Floral Avenue earlier this week. We are working in partnership with several area churches, businesses and organizations, and will welcome others to join the effort. We are announcing several coordinated fundraising and community support events below with more to come over the next several weeks. Please watch for further information as plans are firmed up. We will NOT be collecting any donated items at this time, however.
“Floral Ave Fire Relief” fund established
Already, we have established a bank account at the Johnson City office of NBT. Tax-deductible donations may be made directly at the bank or brought to the Sarah Jane Church office M-F 8:30-1:30. Checks should be made out to “Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial UMC” with “Floral Ave Fire Relief” in the memo. Donations will be disbursed to any of the residents/victims according to need as assessed by a small supervisory team. We do not plan to give out cash, but to help meet specific needs as we are able.
Please keep all of the families in your thoughts and prayers and spread the word of what we are doing together.
Rev. Ron Wenzinger, Pastor
